Keeper's Guide

Today I added the first draft of the Keeper's Guide.
This guide currently details my envisioned session structure and provides an initial threat!

Session Structure:
My session structure takes is heavily inspired by Trophy Dark and a dash of the 5-Room Dungeon.  I tried to layer in how the CfB mystery mechanic is played out in that structure.  I am pretty happy with how it is coming together but it will take some playtesting to really know for sure.  It was important to me to write this guide and then immediately write a threat that uses that structure.

The Ghost of Katharine Wright Haskell:
I love taking actual history and working it into a game.  The history section of the threat is as far as I know 100% true although it does involve speculative interpretation.  I think it will be interesting to see what people do with this threat.

A few fun facts about it:

  • Most of the NPCs names are taken from my childhood friends.  I just mixed up their first and last names.
  • Tim Jammy was inspired by Dwight Shrute.
  • The pictures are actual picturs of Greenfield Village
  • All of the art in this document is Royalty free.  I need to go back and replace the artwork in the other documents.

As noted at the beginning of the keeper's guide, I don't think this is complete.  It is what I think is enough to start playtesting.  I intended to expland this guide and make significant changes before I think this is complete but for now I think it will work.

The last piece I think is missing for my first release is the session script.  This takes the place of the first session script that is normal for Gauntlet games and will walk the keeper and players through character creation and set them up for the first layer.  My goal is to have that written by the end of March.  Once that is written I want to do some playtesting before I make more updates.
